Dune Climb Barn Structural Restoration
When an existing barn near the Glen Arbor sand dunes required significant structural work, DFR Services developed a solution that allowed the building to be supported while critical components were repaired and rebuilt.
THE CHALLENGE
Working on an existing structure requires careful planning, particularly when the components being repaired play a role in supporting the building itself.
For this project, the barn needed substantial structural improvements. Before the necessary framing work could take place, the existing structure first had to be properly supported.
The goal was to complete the repairs while working within the constraints of the existing building.
OUR SOLUTION
DFR Services began by shoring and supporting the barn to provide stability while the structural work was completed.
With the building supported, our team reframed the interior beams and addressed the structural components required for the restoration. A new concrete floor was then poured as part of the completed project.
This phased approach allowed DFR Services to work within the existing structure while making the substantial improvements the building required.
THE RESULT
The completed project gave the existing barn renewed structural support and a refreshed interior ready for continued use. Rather than approaching the project as new construction, DFR Services worked with the existing building and developed a solution around its unique structural needs.
